The Hewitt Fertility Centre & Mark’s #FertillityCycle

#FertilityCycle – The Hewitt Fertility Centre, in partnership with National Fertility Awareness Week are organising a cycle event to raise money and awareness for fertility issues.

30th October 2017:  The Hewitt Fertility Centre is one of the largest and most successful fertility clinics in Europe and we are constantly working to help those who may be suffering with fertility concerns overcome them and achieve their dream of building a family.

It is in that spirit that we have announced that, to mark the start of National Fertility Awareness Week, we will be holding a 100 mile, road cycling event alongside a static cycling race in the lobby of the Liverpool Women’s’ Hospital.

The two-part event will see a team of staff from the hospital set out on a 100 mile round trip from The Liverpool Women’s Hospital to Oldham General Hospital and back again. The half way point of Oldham General hospital is of particular significance to us here at the Hewitt fertility Centre, as it was the Hospital where Louise Brown, the first baby conceived by means of IVF treatment, was born. Louise will be celebrating her 40th birthday next year and we believe this will be a perfect way to pay tribute to her, as well as the millions of other babies who have been given the gift of life as a result of this miraculous treatment.

While the road cycling event is underway, patients, staff and visitors will be encouraged to hop onto one of the static spin bikes in the reception area of the hospital and cycle for however long they feel comfortable, with the aim of amassing 100 miles by the end of the day. The event will include an informal competitive element, with real time updates of the cyclists’ journey to Oldham displayed alongside the accumulative distance achieved by the static bikes.
